Open Days

From time to time Cambridge University Boat Club organises Open Days at which young people interested in spending a day with the University crews, the Blue Boat and Goldie, have the chance to do just that in Cambridge and at Ely.

The day usually takes the form of a tour of the Goldie Boathouse in Cambridge during the morning, followed by a light lunch during which Senior Members of the Colleges and Academic Departments are on hand to answer your questions about how to make an application to be a student at the University. During the afternoon our Open Day visitors are taken to the CUBC boathouse at Ely where they have the opportunity to row with CUBC squad members on the River Great Ouse. On returning to Cambridge, there is the opportunity to tour the historic centre of the city and to visit the ancient colleges before dispersing at around 7.00 p.m. Transport to and from the railway station in Cambridge is provided.

CUBC Open Days are particularly suited to young people in their first year of study after taking their GCSE examinations, that is, at Lower Sixth Form level. School rowing coaches and teachers responsible for school rowing are most welcome to accompany their pupils.

If you are interested in attending a CUBC Open Day, email the Club taking care to set out your age, rowing experience and school examination results to date.

The next Open Day will be held on Thursday 24th April 2008.
