Press Release: Chris Nilsson - Jun 02

Cambridge University Boat Club

Press Release

Chris Nilsson, Chief Coach of CUBC for the successful 2010 season, has indicated he will not be taking up the contract for 2011, instead returning to New Zealand for lifestyle reasons.

Chris’ arrival at CUBC in 2008 was delayed until mid December due to Visa entry problems. In this last 2009/10 campaign he led the Club to a double victory over Oxford, with each crew coming from behind to win in two of the most exciting races of recent history.

Said Chris: “I was very pleased with how the Blue Boat achieved the victory this year. Seeing the quality of the bladework was particularly satisfying. I hope the last two seasons will act as a springboard for future success for the Light Blues. I wish the Club every success and will follow their future campaigns with interest.”

Robin Waterer, Hon Treasurer of CUBC, added: “We are very grateful for Chris’
contribution to the Club these last two seasons and were delighted with the successes this year. We wish him and his family well."
