Having a completed an M.Sci in Natural Sciences, Colin remained in
Cambridge to concentrate on a 1 year MPhil in Management. This is his 4th
year trialling at CUBC, having rowed in Goldie in 2004, 2005 and then again
in 2007. Current OUBC President Nick Brodie coxed Colin as a junior at the
Coup de la Jeunesse in Portugal. Colin remembers being given the afternoon
off while at the national junior trials so the rowers could watch the Boat
Race on TV.

Tim started rowing at school in 1990 and was asked to join the Western
Australian Institute of Sport’s talent identification program in 1992. He
represented Australia in sculling over a five year period beginning in
1995, featuring in the World Junior Championships, Nation’s Cup and World
Cup. He won the Double Scull at the World Junior Championships in
Strathclyde in 1996. His most memorable race is winning the 1999 King’s
Cup for Western Australia beating a truly international field. He is a PhD
student at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute working on infectious
disease genetics. He has been married to his amazing wife, Kura, for three
years and has a baby daughter, Tallulah.

degree from Newcastle University. In his ‘year out’ he worked
at FaulknerBrowns architects in Newcastle. Henry started rowing seriously
in his final year at school. He won the World University Championships in
the Men’s Double Scull in 2006, competed for GB in the Men’s
Quad at U23 level 2004. Henry’s academic prizes include the
‘Terrorism and Military in Politics’ prize at school as well as
the Social and Environmental sustainablity award at University.

Calling Putney home, Tobias has grown up with the Boat Race on his
doorstep. 2007 will be his third year at Cambridge, a year which saw his
best rowing achievement to date with a place in Goldie. In 2005, he
competed at the Junior World Championships in the men’s Eights. Tobias
now hopes to emulate his great, great uncle Kenneth Garnett who rowed in
the Blue Boat in 1914.

A relative newcomer to rowing, Peter wanted to get back into competitive
sport after suffering numerous rugby related injuries and so took up rowing
2 years ago having spent years living near the Boat Race course. At U23
level, Peter won a Bronze in the Men’s Coxed Four. He is now in the first
year of an M.Phil since completing a BA in Economics with European Union
Studies at Nottingham University.

He has competed at Henley for the last 5 years having made the final twice
- in the Henley British FISU 4th A final and the U23 2007 A final. He then
won the Britannia Challenge Cup in 2007. In 2006, he rowed at the U23 World
Championships in Strathclyde where again he made the final in the Eight and
more recently in September 2007, he competed in the European Championships
in Poland. Tom also played basketball to County level.

A Medical graduate and former President of CUBC in the 05/06 season, he
competed in the Blue Boat in 2005 and 2006. He won the Ladies Plate in 2005
in a CUBC crew just before being elected President for the following
season. Away from University rowing, Tom was an Australian Junior and rowed
at the World U23’s. 2007/08 is a comeback season for Tom after taking
time out in 2007 to concentrate on his Phd in Medical Genetics. His thesis
is on the molecular biology of motor neuron degeneration in the spinal
cord. Tom’s younger brother and sister have both represented Australia in
rowing.

A Physics student having already completed his BA in Physics from Cornell
University. Ryan grew up as a football player at heart but at 6ft 2 inches
at the age of 16, was encouraged him to take up rowing which he did in the
hope it would help him stay fit for football. Ryan enjoyed the sport so
much he made the decision to concentrate solely on rowing. He rowed in the
Cornell first varsity boat between 2005-2007 and finished 7th in the
IRA’s. Ryan comes from a sporty family – his father played for one of
the top basketball teams in the NCAA league and his brother played NCAA
soccer in New York.

A PhD student who previously graduated from Cambridge with a BA in
Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Celtic. Cambridge is Rebecca’s home town.
She attended Chesterton Community College, just a few hundred metres from
the Goldie boathouse, before going onto Impington Village College. Became a
novice cox at Cambridge and went on to cox the 2004 Cambridge University
Lightweight Men’s Boat race crew and the 2006 Cambridge University
Women’s Blue Boat. Coxed the winning Blue Boat in 2007. Also coxed
the England Women’s Eight to a Gold medal at the Commonwealth Rowing
Championships in 2006 and the Great Britain Women’s Eight to a Bronze
medal at the 2007 European Rowing Championships.
