It has been a huge week for CUBC, with the first finals appearance for Goldie in several years at Henley.
The crew of Hugo Ramambason (Trinity), Callum Sullivan (Downing), Reggie Mitchell (Trinity), Jonty Page (Pembroke), and Tom Strudwick (Christ’s) went down narrowly to Imperial College, who had set the course record two days before. Although the loss was disappointing, the performance of the young crew augurs well for the future of the Club, with Sullivan and Mitchell in their first year at Cambridge, whilst the bow pair of Page and Strudwick completing their second.
The crew was undaunted by their loss, and five days later represented CUBC at the European Universities Sport Association (EUSA) regatta as a coxless 4. They dominated both heat and final, winning by 10 seconds from University of London, and look forward to the commencement of the 2019 BR Trialling on September 3rd.
CUBC is proud also to announce its representatives in the GB squad at U23 World Championships in Poznan, Poland from July 25-29.
Assistant Coach Richard Chambers will coach the Men’s 8+, which will have a Cambridge-dominated stern of 2018 President Hugo Ramambason coxing and 2018 stroke Freddie Davidson (Emmanuel) leading a strong crew drawn.
Chief Coach Rob Baker will be coaching CUWBC’s Imogen Grant in the LW1x, following her A-Final appearance at World Cup 2 and 2018 Boat Races win.
